Holiday makeup essentials

If you read my blog it’s quite likely you are a fellow makeup addict?! If that is the case you might need some help with your holiday makeup essentials…

Although I absolutely love makeup I have a tendency to take too much away with  me and wear hardly any. Sound familiar to anyone?

Finally this year I have whittled it down to what I class as essentials.
holiday makeup essentialsA multi purpose palette like this Becca and Jaclyn Hill set. This has highlighters, blush and bronzer. I’ll use the bronzer to contour as well. I’m not taking any other blush, bronzer, contour or highlighters with me.

I picked three different colours and finishes to give me some choice. Too Faced Melted in Melted Nude is an easy natural colour to wear that’s not drying and can be used over Vegas Vault. Mac Vegas Vault is a coral so looks really nice with a tan. I’ll likely wear this most evenings. 4U2 in 01 is a nude with a creamy finish. This will look nice with natural makeup. I think I’ve covered all bases with those three for a good mix.
holiday makeup essentialsMoving onto lashes and brows, I don’t want to spend ages doing either on holiday if I’m honest. Lights, Camera, Lashes is perfect for statement lashes with minimal effort. Gimme Brow from Benefit will tidy up my brows and give them a bit more definition in under two minutes which I’m happy with. The dip Brow can stay at home this time I’m afraid.
This is exactly why I collect minis… they cut down on space so much. I’m taking a radiance primer from Laura Mercier instead of my usual normal version. I love this primer because it feels like a light moisturiser rather than a barrier. CoverFX 50 custom drops mixed in my moisturiser or Dew The Hoola gives me a nice colour boost if I don’t want to wear foundation.  I’m also taking a mini Estée Lauder Double Wear in Henna just in case I feel like some full coverage.

That’s literally all the makeup I’m taking that I would class as my holiday makeup essentials. I don’t normally go all out with eyeshadow or lashes on holiday to be honest even when I take them. These items will see me through daytime looks, natural looks and madeup looks at night.

Do you think you could whittle your collection down as much? I did have to really think about what to include in all fairness. Is there anything else you think should be included in holiday makeup essentials?

Xxx

  1. Awesome post! I also take a whole bag of makeup when I travel and I I never end up using everything. Fortunately, I’ve recently found a set of double-ended make-up brushes which are starting to help me save space. On a side note, I really love those lipstick colours! They can cover a whole range of looks 😊
