The Estee Lauder Victoria Beckham collection was one I had been desperate to get my hands on. I buy a lot of Estee Lauder so expected great things from this collaboration.
Like many other beauty addicts I saw the Estee Lauder Victoria Beckham collection in press releases previous to the launch date. Certain items in the Estee Lauder Victoria Beckham collection have been recommended to go together that compliment each other. There are four all named after cities such as London and New York.
Different retailers had different launch dates such as Estee Lauder, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. I went into Harvey Nichols to swatch everything before deciding what I wanted to buy so didn’t buy in the first wave. Mostly because I didn’t want to impulse buy and end up not liking some things…
So I don’t think I was alone at being surprised at the prices of some items… I do not mind spending a reasonable amount on makeup I must admit but I know how much I am willing to pay for particular brands. I’ll list the prices below and list the usual prices, let me know what you think…

I was quite surprised at some of the rather large differences in prices mostly by the lipstick. The Estee Lauder iconic, classic gold ribbed lipstick is £22 and the Estee Lauder Victoria Beckham lipstick in extremely similar gold ribbed packaging is £14 more at £36. That said I do love the packaging and I assume that inspiration was taken from the classic packaging Estee Lauder has.
I also love the packaging on all the compacts, I think they look classy and luxurious. To be honest I love the packaging on everything apart from the Eye Foils. I don’t dislike them they just don’t feel or look as high-end as the rest of the collection.
Moving onto to swatches which is likely the reason you are here..
Starting with the lipsticks there are two in the Estee Lauder Victoria Beckham collection. The black ribbed lipstick is Chilean Sunset and the gold ribbed lipstick is Brazilian Nude. Before swatching these I would have bought both as they are very me colours.
Brazilian Nude wouldn’t look great on me as I have quite pigmented lips unfortunately. It is a gorgeous creme nude which I think will suit most people. Chilean Sunset is a matte orange tone red. Although it is matte it didn’t feel too dry like some matte lipsticks can. I absolutely love a pop of colour on my lips rather than a statement eye look so its just the sort of thing I would normally buy. As much I love this lipstick I already have a few that are very similar so couldn’t justify buying this (yet…).
The lip pencil is a nude brown and quite versatile as it could be worn with most of the nudes I personally have. It applies smoothly without pulling as its quite creamy. The lip pencil also looks lovely used all over and topped with a nude or clear gloss. I have bought this as I was impressed with how nice it felt and I should say it lasts really well.
Moving onto the lip gloss in Moroccan heat, which I was tempted to buy. It does have a lovely nude pigment to it and didn’t feel overly sticky. The packaging is absolutely gorgeous and reminds me of Yves Saint Laurent
Here are a few more swatches of the lip items from the Estee Lauder Victoria Beckham collection as well as the bronzer, highlighter and Morning Aura.
Morning Aura is a moisturiser, brightening primer and illuminator so can take the place of multiple products. It feels heavenly to apply and looks really nice. That said I use Double Wear and I know if I use this to illuminate and as a primer it will not show through. With a lighter foundation or on its own it will give you a lovely glow. Alternatively Morning aura can be used over your foundation for a glow or just applied to where you would use highlighter for a subtle look. Lastly Morning Aura could also be mixed with your foundation. As you can tell there are a few different way to use this and I am not surprised that its sold out at the majority of retailers if not all of them. Update: it’s in stock at Selfridges.
Modern Mercury is a re-release from a few years ago and I have realised I already have this somewhere. The colour payoff does not seem to have changed as far as I can tell. Its highly pigmented and easy to use. There’s no grittiness to this product at all it applies really consistently and smoothly. I’m not such as fan of the description on the website…. ‘sweaty-skin’.. I assure you that you will not look sweaty if you buy this just nicely highlighted. A little really does go a long way with this highlighter so use a light hand when applying. If I didn’t already have this I would think about buying it again.
Java Sun is the bronzer in the Estee Lauder Victoria Beckham collection. It is a matte bronzer so can be used to contour, strobe or for an all over sun-kissed look. I am impressed with Java Sun because although there is only one shade a lot of skin tones will be able to carry this off. On myself it will look quite subtle but it is buildable. If you are new to bronzers I’d recommend giving this a try.
If you want some intense colour payoff these are crazy pigmented as you can see!
Charred Emerald is an intense, dark, sultry green that applies very smoothly with no drag. This can be applied straight from the pan like I have here or layered with Black Myrrh. This will be amazing for party season that is fast approaching.
Bitter Clove is again highly pigmented and would pair perfectly with Black Myrrh for a smokey eye look. It would also look striking used on the inner corner of the eye on a minimal eye makeup day. Bitter Clove just like Charred Emerald applied smoothly.
Black Myrrh is a gel-creme that can be used on its own or under one of the other eyeshadows for a deep and more intense look. Its nearly jet black with a touch of shimmer, this is one swatch so really impressive.
All three of these have amazing colour payoff and are easy to apply and blend without any noticeable fallout.
This eyeshadow palette is a set of 6 powder shadow that can be used dry or wet. All of these have a pearlised finish to them. Used dry the colour payoff will be the same as I have swatched. Used wet you will get a deeper and more intense look. These apply smoothly just like the other Estee Lauder Victoria Beckham eyeshadows.
I was curious about the Estee Lauder Victoria Beckham Eye Foils after seeing pictures online. They are available in Burnt Anise and Blonde Gold both of which I have swatched above. These are buildable if you let them dry between layers which takes seconds. They are quite liquid- metal like and have a high shine finish. What do you think of them?
This is a duo eye pencil and my favourite item in the collection. I have got two of these because I hate it when you find something you like and then you can not buy it again. Its really soft to apply and easy to work with. I use the Vanille on the inner corner of my eye or to line my lower lid. The black I found easy to smudge for a smokey eye. It also lasted the majority of the day so I am happy I got a backup.
In reflection although this collaboration is priced higher than the standard Estee Lauder range the colour payoff is amazing in the eyeshadows. The eye pencil is lovely to apply and the highlighter is super pigmented. Of course the packaging is also amazing, I don’t think anyone can deny that. The quality of this collection is outstanding in my opinion so I hope this is a sign of things to come in the future.
If you happen to have a spare £850 (I wish) then there are two of these sets available at Selfridges currently. This set includes both lipsticks, lip pencil, duo eye pencil, both eye foils, highlighter and Eye Metal in Charred Emerald all inside a makeup box with a removable light up mirror.
